Anamorphic Memories is a performance that plays in a loop for 4 hours. In this creation, at the border of theater and multimedia installation, Isa Balog deploys technologies to play with the spectators’ sensory perceptions.
Freely inspired by the worlds of the novel L’invention de Morel by Adolfo Bioy Casares and the movie L’année dernière à Marienbad by Alain Resnais, Anamorphic Memories invites the spectator to experience a ten-minute tête-à-tête with a stranger. As soon as he arrives, the spectator is deeply immersed in the center of an experience that awakens all his senses.
Through various technical devices, games of transparency, mirrors, lights and optical illusion, Anamorphic Memories accentuates in the mind of the visitor the confusion between reality and unreality. But more than the magical and technological dimension of the form, it is the sensitive quality of the encounter that matters, the emotions that can arise during this short moment, where the intensity of the present time brings us together.
