Beyond Green Games -- educational kit is a disruptive, creative educational proposal aimed at raising environmental awareness through green games. The idea is to hack video games to encourage changes in behavior towards the environment by playing games that adopt animist and indigenous perspectives, and address narratives linked to current climate challenges. Games developed responsibly, with less technology and more diversity in aesthetics and game mechanics: less competition, more collaboration.

Beyond Green Games – Educational Kit is a disruptive and creative educational proposal aimed at raising environmental awareness through green games. The idea is to hack video games to encourage behavioral change toward the environment by playing games that adopt animist and Indigenous perspectives and explore narratives linked to current climate challenges. These are games developed responsibly, with less reliance on technology and greater diversity in aesthetics and game mechanics: less competition, more collaboration.
The Beyond Green Games – Educational Kit is designed for children, teenagers, artists, and educators. Featuring ten independent games, the kit offers three methodologies for game-related experiences:
Tree walks to record sounds, images, and 3D scans of trees, stones, and rocks
Co-creation of machinima, mixing recordings from green games with those from augmented walks
Design and prototyping of video game ideas inspired by the walk experience and green games
Inspired by the Situationists’ psychogeography and the idea of drift as a form of learning, these walks aim to connect places, plants, seas, and rocks with sensations, emotions, and game mechanics.
The way we incorporate sensations and emotions can be translated into films and games; elements observed in nature can become protagonists, narrative themes, or characters in films or games.
Currently under development and experimentation, the Green Games Educational Kit includes titles such as Atuel, She and the Light Bearer, Wonder in Wander, among others. Following the game creation and machinima workshops, the kit will also include games collectively produced with various First Peoples and Quilombola communities. We also intend to co-produce games with studios based in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin and South America.
