Thousands of hemp herbariums were collected on the web or created by the author, then digitized. From there, “anti-Darwinian” branch and impossible leaf forms were generated by GANs (generative adversarial networks) and modeled in 3D. The 3D model was then reproduced as an “IRL mock-up” using fragments of branches collected by the artist in various forests, while the leaves were 3D printed.
The mock-up was then cast in bronze, forming the element/tr33 (AV-2022-U-259) sculpture.
