EtSi...

by Maxime Houot and Rachid Ouramdane
2022

A piece beyond boundaries, at the confluence of several artistic disciplines, EtSi… (What if…) multiplies perspectives by spurting out a whirling choreography, in an extremely sophisticated immersive audio-visual environment. Assured vertigo.

Through a skilful interplay of light and darkness, this piece distorts the landmarks of perception and seems to set in motion the space in which the spectator finds himself.

It takes us on a journey where notions of fullness, emptiness, height, depth and scale are transformed without our understanding the logic behind it. Whether it's the gyration of MA. mobile lumière piloted by Maxime Houot, or that of Lora Juodkaite, the dialogue between these gyration forces plunges us into both the calm of the eye of the cyclone and the power of the movement that surrounds it.

Lora Juodkaite. Maxime Houot and Rachid Ouramdane propose a piece made up of visual twists that make us question the reality of the things we perceive.

Lora Juodkaite, a long-time dancer with choreographer Rachid Ouramdane, is known for her vertiginous and exceptional practice of gyration. She has been spinning since childhood, as a daily ritual that puts her in a second state.

Rachid Ouramdane regularly uses this intriguing, hypnotic movement to plunge spectators into a particular state, making them rediscover and contemplate places through the filter of this ritual they are witnessing.

Maxime Houot, visual artist and musician with Collectif Coin, invited Rachid Ouramdane and Lora Juodkaite to an encounter around MA, which also deploys a gyration movement.
