Architectural spaces are often seen as mute sound receptacles. However, the selection of materials or volumes operates as a transformer by creating sound circulation effects (echo, rotation, etc.), or as an amplifier, or as a buffer or filter. A place associated to a specific use creates a particular type of sound environment, with various annoying effects (resonance, ventilation, external insulation). Such properties and different sound materials were employed in the conception of Intimacy(ies) #7, which is made up of a series of sound microfictions.
The sound pieces mix the time frozen during recording, the present time of the listener and an electroacoustic composition made up of microfictions and fragments of intimacy, speeches, whispers and everyday gestures. The spectator-listener will be wearing headsets and carrying a map that indicates where to listen to the pieces in order to enjoy a special moment, a sensitive auditory experience.
In these Intimacy, " It's not only a question of working on sound as a physical and acoustic phenomenon, but of shifting the questioning of our listening practices, as experiences shaped by social and cultural contexts, and by our memory. (..) The space is sculpted acoustically and becomes the protagonist of a fiction. The fragmented editing and the phonic superimpositions reinforce the impression of living a reality that is unstable to say the least, both familiar and foreign ”. Charlotte Laubard, curator.
