Based on the two major French feminists books of the late seventies and beginning of the eighties ("So long a letter" by Mariama Bâ & "Speak out, Black sisters : feminism and oppression in Black Africa" by Awa Thiam), the author Axelle Jah Njiké, in a personnal way, dives the history of french afro-feminism from the sixties till nowadays, offering an unheard story of women's emancipation on the African continent.

In 2021, what does it look like to be a black feminist while being african or afro(euro)pean ? Is their such thing as an "african", "black" or "afro(euro)pean" feminism ? How do you define it? What are the stories, the struggles, the challenges, and the obstacles that French speaking african women on the continent and in the european diaspora have to face to become emancipated beings ? And last but not least : it is easy when you're an african woman to claim that you are, indeed, a feminist?
