K2-18B

by Jésus Baptista and Cédric Niid and Yannick Niid
2021

Water represents mankind's objective in its conquest of space. Since 1995, several exoplanets with water have been discovered, one of which stands out: "K2-18 B."

The installation "K2-18B" invites us to explore the surface of this exoplanet through a luminous altar. A monolith of ice on which rests the heart of the exoplanet. A powerful heart of light that governs the rhythm of life for the organisms surrounding it.

The artwork invites the viewer to come and see their reflection distorted by the effects of light. Beyond their reflection, it's also the reflection of the surrounding architecture that distorts according to the viewpoint, creating a truly natural graphic animation.
