The Story Weaver is a creation by the Hypnoscope collective, blending live performance, participatory art, and cinematic co-creation. This interactive installation allows participants to write, direct, or narrate a story collaboratively. The work is crafted uniquely for each location, reflecting its essence and that of its audience, placing the stories of local residents and cultural heritage at the heart of its narrative.

The Story Weaver offers a two-phase creative process.
The first phase involves one or more workshops led by the artists, where participants collaboratively write stories (and propose concept art), whether individual or collective, drawing inspiration from their own lives and imaginations.
In the second phase, the artists refine and integrate the written material: Lia creates the illustrations, while Loup and Rémi incorporate everything into the final setup, bringing the participants' stories to life. The third phase is a public presentation, open to both the workshop participants and the general public.
The first role is the Navigator. Using a tablet that displays fragments of possible storylines, the Navigator selects and guides the narrative’s progression. With a single click, they choose the next narrative branch and set the pace of the story as it unfolds.
The second role is the Puppeteer. Equipped with a virtual reality headset and controllers, the Puppeteer stages the story using a dynamic virtual puppet theater.
The third role is the Narrator. Their task is to read the story’s text as it is revealed to the audience. They can either read the displayed text as written or adapt it to match the Puppeteer’s staging and animation of characters and objects.
At the intersection of cinema, digital art, and virtual reality, The Story Weaver is, above all, a platform fostering a novel dialogue between performative art and digital mediation. It challenges our relationship with digital spaces and the stage, introducing innovative ways to bring together participants of all ages and backgrounds in collaborative storytelling.
