Driven by AI and audience interaction, LILITH.AEON is a ground-breaking XR dance touring production exploring future humanity. The narrative of LILITH.AEON is inspired by transhumanism and the real-life story of the youngest cryogenised person and it questions our potential future life cycle and the transformation from physical being to data.
It is a durational immersive performative installation where the story unfolds on a large LED cube as a direct result of the character’s real-time interaction with the audience made possible by seamless use of the cutting-edge technologies like Unreal Engine, motion capture, AI, Machine Learning and 3D animation.
Artificial Intelligence
Lilith’s choreography is generated by Artificial Intelligence and trained with Machine Learning Technology based on the Aoi and Esteban’s motion capture data. Motion tracking system uses AI computer vision, which makes Lilith to recognise the audience’s motion in space and interact in real-time. The AI acts as the main protagonist of the piece, equally important as the performers on stage.
Immersive XR LED Volume
Imagine Lilith to be living inside the screen; the audience is given a sense the world is continuing, and there is a blurring of boundaries between the real and digital world. Content is created with carefully crafted art direction, built in Unreal Engine to allow real-time interaction, high fidelity and the highest artistic aesthetics.
In the words of the creators
‘Started back in 2017 after the premiere of WHIST, where we explored with a Virtual Reality technology we first encountered a barrier in blurring the boundary between the real and digital as wearing the headset was not organic. This set us a challenge to research how we could seamlessly merge the virtual and the real while eliminating the need for wearable screens. At the same time, we both lost our dear family members and this made us choose to explore, “Life”, “Death”, the meaning of it, and why we live today.
