Sent to an unknown planet young exo-biologist Claris is alone aboard her pod when she violently crash lands. While trying as best she can to find the other members of her team, she receives the first “signal” generated by the planet itself. Mirror is a journey to another planet. It is also, above all, the journey through the sentimental landscape of a woman who has experienced a tragedy. We retrace the main protagonist’s history through her memories to understand her quest. Her loneliness.

What is a memory? Should we consider what we’ve forgotten as failures of memory? Delving into the question of memories and meaning, Mirror is a short film in virtual reality which offers the viewer a 360-degree immersive experience in interactive 3D. Travel through Claris’ memories as she becomes the first astronaut to set foot on Planet Mirror, a “living planet” that seeks to understand Humans. Claris is haunted by the death of her husband and daughter and as she tries to escape her memories, they materialise before her eyes.
VR enables us to stretch the limit of Claris’ mental memories and those that will actually exist before her eyes on the planet. Her memories go from being pure mental projections to being veritable ghosts in the reality of Planet Mirror. Little by little, the line between the memories playing out in her mind and the reality of the planet become one: a tree she knew as a child starts to grow a few yards from the spaceship, the church where her husband and daughter’s funeral was held appears in the distance. Claris feels more and more like she is losing her grip on reality, as the planet seems to take possession of her.
This resurgence of memories as she explores unknown territory enables us to draw a portrait of this woman, who has lost everything but ends up finding herself as she discovers the magic of Planet Mirror. And the more Claris progresses in her exploration, the more the planet transforms and takes on all the characteristics of Planet Earth. The Mirror experience evolves in keeping with what the viewer looks at, unlocking scenes through the direction of his/her gaze. Eventually, Claris must make the hardest decision of her life; to live inside her memories on Planet Mirror, or abandon the last traces of her loved ones for reality back on Earth.
