Notre-Dame de Paris: the Augmented Exhibition combines the physical scenography and augmented reality of the HistoPad to transport the visitor on an immersive and interactive journey to discover 21 outstanding events which have contributed to place this building among the most emblematic monuments in France. From the construction site in the 12th century to its restoration following the devastating fire of 2019, the exhibition narrates 850 years of the history of the eternal Cathedral.
The visit opens with the beginnings of the construction of the cathedral in 1180 initiated by Bishop Maurice de Sully. The immersive reconstruction and 3D animations of this experience facilitate the understanding of the trades, know-how and technical challenges that allowed this architectural achievement as well as the spiritual and political challenges of its construction. The following experiences retrace, through the same immersive and narrative processes, the great hours of the cathedral such as the wedding of Henri IV, the coronation of Napoleon or the construction of the spire of Viollet-le-Duc. The visit ends with a presentation of the reconstruction, security and restoration projects and their respective challenges.
After its preview at the France Pavilion of the Dubaï World Expo in October 2021, the exhibition will travel through 12 cities in Europe, Asia and America, during the reconstruction project. It will be presented from April 7, 2022 in Paris at the Collège des Bernardins, before being installed at the National Building Museum in Washington at the end of April 2022.
Notre-Dame de Paris: the Augmented Exhibit is designed and produced by Histovery thanks to the exclusive sponsorship of the L'Oréal group, in collaboration with the Public Establishment in charge of the conservation and restoration of Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral.
