At the time of the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, Stéphane Marin and the Company Espaces Sonores immersed themselves in the sounds of various Olympic disciplines.

Harmonizing with the tones and energies inherent to the specific sounds of sports, and the athletes who produce them in their efforts, multiple sonic proposals unfold within Olymphonies through various setups that propel the sounds ever faster, ever higher, ever louder, and, of course, to listen more than ever: together!

The entire spectrum of sporting energy unfolds within the multichannel (6-channel) setup, offering expansive sonic perspectives adaptable to the spatial and acoustic characteristics of numerous venues. The sonic composition is entirely phonographic, meaning it is composed solely from original sound recordings captured at the heart and in direct contact with various Olympic and Paralympic (summer) sports disciplines, collected specifically for this creation. The CREPS, as project partner, was invaluable in facilitating exceptional conditions for us to meet and record elite athletes, all fully committed body and soul to their respective practices, infusing our microphones with astonishing energy: unheard of!

The installation can take the form of a circle of speakers surrounding the audience in a defined area or, when repeated several times, it can also spread out over a larger space. It is also suited for stereo diffusion in the form of listening sessions with noise-canceling headphones.
