Mimicking the writing of the instantaneous representation of Duras, scrolling through the suggested images of a cinema for the ear, depicting the exhaustion of the representation of Indochinese space, the sound creation Sounds from outside, by Hélène Perret and Eddie Ladoire, composed from sounds recorded in France, Quebec and Vietnam, provokes the emergence of phonographic images, such as if all that remained of this rehashed story, of the persistence of the places of childhood, was only the soundtrack that could have been made of it. A sound trace.

« Ordinary writing is that, the one that does not show, that runs on the crest of words, the one that does not exist, that barely has time to exist. Who never "cuts" the reader, never takes his place. No version offered. No explanation » (Interview of Marguerite Duras in the Nouvel Observateur n°1033, 1984)
In Duras novels, places are not only used for decoration, for the background. They are the starting point of the writing, they allow the emergence of the memory and give the possibility of taking up the same story, of developing it, of modifying it. In the novels of the Indochinese cycle, gradually, places will be reduced to an immediate, unforeseen and instantaneous vision of the writer, to a sort of improvised transcription of a visual hallucination of the author rather than to a visualization detailed description. The image is refined, the places are evoked only from a few visual and auditory perceptions.
Made up of noises and silences, of sounds, of the rain, of the sea, of shouts, of murmurs of the city, of the piano, of songs, of music, the work is obviously very sonorous but, at reading, we find above all some principles of phonographic creation: instantaneity, modulation, repetitions, resonances and fixity.
Initiated in 2008 in residence at the Orford Music International Academy in Quebec, in the form of an immersive electroacoustic piece, then in theatrical version in residence at the Aquitaine Region Artistic Office in 2012, the radiophonic piece "Les Bruits du Dehors" was created in Vietnam at the invitation of the Institut Français.
From the civilized and inhabited space of the city, the listener is transported to a primitive and wild space, the forest. Water, an omnipresent osmotic element that achieves fusion with other elements, allows this passage. Mixing sounds recorded in France, Quebec and Vietnam, the spaces are in this creation, completely recreated and suggested.
