The Spaces in Between explores human displacement and its resonance across generations. Displacement and immigration have been constants across human history. Yet today they are increasingly politicized. By highlighting the voices of those who have left their homes or whose ancestors have migrated, The Spaces in Between explores displacement on a human scale, offering a perspective that is rooted not in statistics and generalizations, but in lived experience.

The Spaces in Between embodies, through objects and interactive scenic design, the countless stories of the inhabitants we have met since 2016 through our previous projects in Harlem (USA), Oakland (USA), Saint-Denis (France), Maputo (Mozambique), Istanbul (Turkey) and Bangalore (India). Through new partner- ships and collaborations, The Spaces in Between will also integrate new stories from parts of the world we have yet to explore.
