A person

Jerome Blanquet's explorations lead him to the representation of what escapes our consciousness.
Inspired by technology, he continually interrogates the limits of his tools and his knowledge. It diverts
from the established forms, in search of interstices, to the kinds of open areas where can find meaning.

After studying Art history and cinema, he explored painting, music and photography before heading naturally towards editing and motion design. In 1999 (until 2004), he co-founded the creation’s collective labalaba in which he directed music videos, adverts, opening credits and short films which combined filmed shots and computer generated images.

Since 1998, he has co-run projectsinge, a creation’s collective and has been involved in the audio-video project Demolecularisation. He likes to explore new ways of narration, shooting, posproduction. His explorations in image and writing have pushed him to representing everything that has escaped our consciousness, modified states (dream, coma, insanity, hallucination…), parallel realities and the invisible. Particularly inspired by technology, he plays with the limits of his tools and knowledges. He highjacks the established forms, finding spontaneity and sense in between the cracks and open zones. With a painterly feel to his storytelling, somewhere between experimental and fiction, he plays with accidents and surprises.

Whether it be in film or in performance, the results are sensorial experiences.

Can an emotion have a physical representation? When I listen to music, my body vibrates, my heart beats at a different rate, affecting my perception. How can an invisible world change matter as dense as the human body? Sound is the basis of matter.
