Experimental animated documentary.
In 2016, I collected and archived all the waste generated by my flat. I eliminated soiled objects and organic residues. This film is an exhaustive record of the process, with one to five items per frame at a rate of 12 frames per second.
The project was born out of the desire for an act of creation in its totality, or how to combine everyday life with the making of an animated film.
It was by questioning the very materials with which animated films are made that a solution appeared to me. I didn't want to use raw materials that came from outside (modelling clay, drawing paper, sand, film, etc.). So I had to look for what already existed. And it was waste that gave me this opportunity. That's how I stopped discarding the things I accumulated every day and destined for the bin, moving from an act of acquiring raw materials to one of retaining them.
Setting up a collection of specific objects in a given environment was the methodical response to this project. By removing organic waste and soiled objects, I obtained a stable working base that could be archived. Using this raw material as a starting point, I introduced a documentary vein into a project that was initially intended as an experimental animation.
