In the "Universal Forest" fresco, viewers are invited to wander through a spectacular forest, encountering a dozen endangered animal species. At the end of their journey, they have access to educational and artistic kits. On the IUCN worldwide Red List of Threatened Species (version 2022.2), 42,108 of the 150,388 species studied are classified as threatened. Through this augmented reality fresco, we hope to give voice to these animals. The panel presented here shows an extract from this fresco, featuring 4 animals.
The Universal Forest
Find out more
The augmented sound fresco is an immersive experience in a forest made up of species of tree from all over the world (banyan, dragon blood tree, baobab, poplar, strangler fig, birch, etc.), where the viewer can trigger animated scenes of animals in augmented reality and listen to poetic sound content, using a web application accessible on smartphone or tablet. The narrative journey is an invitation to meet various species of endangered animals. Using the application, each animal found comes to life through an animation device, and viewers can hear haikus read aloud and set to music. This poetic text allows the viewer to become familiar with the animal through a unique listening experience specific to the geographical area in which the animal lives (sounds of nature, music). This immersive experience in the fresco along with the sense of wonder associated with its animation thus provides the viewers with an artistic and literary experience which should increase their interest in the species they discovered. At the end of the immersive journey, viewers will be able to access additional educational content. As for the graphic universe, we designed a black-and-white fresco. The animals hidden within this universal forest will also be drawn in black and white, their colours only appearing when animated. The fresco is to be printed on eco-responsible fabric or tarp (digital file sent for on-site printing) and can be presented in monumental or other homothetic formats to fit your venue. Mediation tools available: educational kits, art kits, workshops and conferences.
