Crashboard is a surfing cyberspace game controlled by a skateboard.
Crashboard is a skateboard hijacked to become a game controller by using an accelerometer. This way the lateral movements of the player are sent to the program to allow them to surf in the game with true skateboarding sensations.
During the exhibition, a pair of cardboard anaglyph glasses is hung from the ceiling just above the skateboard to allow the player to better immerse themself in the projection space. A few pairs of glasses are available nearby to allow the passive public to also enjoy the game experience.
In the game, we play as a gif delivery person who, risking their life, who must cross the optical fiber, avoid obstacles and catch gifs. This journey illustrates the flow of data on internet networks.
Crashboard addresses the theme of Internet technology, through its history of gifs, one of the first abundant sources of what the web can imagine and which questions our practices : how can cyberspace become a new El Dorado ?
