Bibliothèque nationale de France

Beginning of activity : 1994
Public institution

The Bibliothèque Nationale de France (BNF) collects, preserves, catalogs and makes available for consultation the national heritage. It enlarges/enhances its collections through the legal deposit, which is the legal requirement for producers and publishers to submit copies of their publications to the designated repositories. This deposit has been extended to other media over the centuries, and also applies to the digital creation nowadays.
