Les Petits Labos is an interdisciplinary research and creation laboratory. Its main objective is to explore new modes of eco-responsible production in the service of artistic creation. Installed in Marseille, this laboratory, co-founded by Diego Ortiz and Hernan Zambrano, promotes a convergence between art, ecology and new technologies.
With the aim of designing projects capable of tackling the complexity of the environmental challenge in an innovative way, they are now experimenting with different kinds of biomaterials. Their research leads them to exploit, for example, data captured by air quality monitoring agencies, to transform them, through digital programming, into innovative objects composed of light, movement and sound. .
They are also interested in the development of plastic waste transformation processes for the benefit of an alternative artistic production.
Diego Ortiz and Hernan Zambrano strive to combine aesthetic issues, functional and productive qualities, with a renewed and more responsible vision of art. An art born from a real economy in the treatment of natural resources before, during and after the creation of a work.
