Sound installation composed of hard disks as acoustic sources forming a synthesizer which algorithmically produces generative melodic patterns. As the listener moves close to the room the "natural spatialization" creates the illusion of the emergence of new patterns.
Obsolete automatons recycled, the “mechanical” hard disks are dismantled here, deprived of their memory tray to leave visible only the mechanical part. A form of industrial poetry reflecting on our relationship to technology and obsolescence.

Dataline is a sound installation composed of hard disks as acoustic sources forming a synthesizer which algorithmically produces generative melodic patterns.
These patterns generate endless variations, so as the listener moves around the room the "natural spatialization" creates the illusion of new patterns emerging. Each module is constructed so that the hard drives are perfectly synchronized. The device is acoustic, the sound being generated directly by the movement of the read heads of the hard disks. The noise level is therefore relatively low and the installation works best in a quiet environment. The installation is self-contained and only requires an electrical outlet to operate. It can be hung on the wall or placed on a plinth. The installation is suitable for all audiences.
We are made of thoughts, dreams and ideas, but it is our body that reveals us to the world. In the realm of digital, virtual and abstract arts, these obsolete things are testimonies of a changing entity. They tell us about our identity and our evolution. Recycled automatons, the “mechanical” hard disks are dismantled here, deprived of their memory tray to reveal a mobile structure. When powered, the playhead moves with precision at such a speed that it can be used as a sound oscillator. Micro controllers (arduinos) are used to generate series of calibrated electrical pulses to generate melodic patterns. Whether generative or repetitive, the object here is to draw a form of industrial poetry.
