Since 2016, French artist Irvin Anneix invites teenagers around the world (in Europe, Africa, Canada...), to record a time capsule to their “future self” in 10 years. Alone, in the intimate cocoon of their bedroom, they entrust their hopes and anxieties to the adult they wish or fear to become. Theses heartbreaking testimonies shows the deep aspirations of teenagers. These digital time capsules are broadcast on a video installation for cultural institutions and also on a YouTube channel : www.youtube.com/cherfuturmoi/videos

Since 2016, French artist Irvin Anneix invites teenagers from all over the world to record a time capsule for their "future self" in 10 years. Alone, in the intimate cocoon of their bedroom and facing the camera, they entrust their hopes and anxieties for the future.
These capsules are broadcast on a YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/cherfuturmoi) and within a video installation for cultural institutions (theaters, museums, biennials, libraries, etc.).
The device is made up of six modules:
- A giant floating screen facing a bleacher. This collective listening system is reminiscent of a movie theater.
- 5 small modules of different shapes, in steel, mirror, wood and projection screen. On each module is integrated a small video projector. There are 4 headphones per module.
The public is free to move. He can go from individual listening with headphones to a collective experience around the giant screen. In three years, “Dear future me” has been presented in a huge variety of places: an auditorium, an old factory or even an old shoe market.
CULTURAL MEDIATION: INVOLVING TEENAGERS OF THE TERRITORY
Irvin Anneix want to grow the project with the time capsules of the teenagers of the territory. It requires a mediation work with the teams of the places that invite us.
Irvin offers a two-hour session with classes of middle and high school students, with university students or with other groups of teenagers. He leaves for each group a filming kit that volunteer students can borrow, to make their video alone, at home, in their room.
A technical training will be provided in class, with advices. We ask participants to record a 15 minutes’ video. We edit them into short 3 or 5 minutes episodes. The editing is intended to be invisible and fluid. Recruitment of participants can also be done online, via a call for participation posted on social networks.
