In 2022, former residents of the Centre d’Accueil des Français d’Indochine in Sainte-Livrade, created in 1956, still live on-site. The descendants of the first arrivals grew up there, shaped by the unique conditions of this internment camp, each navigating their path between family traditions and integration into Lot-et-Garonne society. Some have returned after life journeys took them elsewhere.
Today, each fights in their own way to preserve the memory of this place that has profoundly shaped them. The Guardians of the Temple follows them in their daily lives: maintaining Buddhist pagodas, preparing traditional meals, and weaving together the camp’s history through their shared memories.
The first performance of The Guardians of the Temple took place on September 10, 2022, in a 14.2 configuration at the site of the Centre d’Accueil des Français d’Indochine in Sainte-Livrade-sur-Lot.
The work was subsequently broadcast on RTBF and RTS SSR SRG during the fall of 2022. It continues as a live performance in 8.2 or 14.2 formats throughout this artistic season and the following ones.
