La Barricade is a documentary series of 20 3-minute long shorts, solely produced using archives, that describes Mai 1968’s 24 most violent hours, which took place between 24 and 25 May. It was the craziest day in the last 50 years.
Whilst painstakingly respecting the historical chronology of events, the series employs an unusual narrative style wherein real archive films are show alongside an audiofictional, researched, crossover narration using two voices, those of a young German student and an Algerian immigrant.
Our series takes root in an event that was kept secret in police archives for 30 years: a 26-year old worker’ death at a barricade. It is this event that constitutes the focal point of our account, and around which our various characters’ personal pathways evolve.
