Since 2013, French artist Irvin Anneix has collected hundreds of diaries written during teenage hood. Then, he asks to others teenagers to read diaries of his collection in front of the camera, through a traveling reading room. Inaugurated at the Center Pompidou, the reading room has been presented in several cultural institutions in France (theaters, museums, public places, festivals, etc.). Hundreds of readings have already been recorded and are broadcast on a YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/motsdados-lachaine. A book has just been published by Hoëbecke (Gallimard).

Since 2013, french artist Irvin Anneix collects diaries written during teenage hood. These writings are about happy and painful moments: declarations of love, fusional friendships, family conflicts, existential questions, identity issues, about the body, the sexuality, reflections about society, etc. These intimate writings are universal: everyone can identify with them regardless of their age. Exhibiting them is a way to make them legitimate, to bring a new point of view on teenage hood, more sensitive, far from clichés.

More than 300 persons, teenagers, adults and seniors have already shared diaries of their teenage hood anonymously. The collection is growing every day. Irvin Anneix is the «curator» of this collection.

Irvin Anneix has chosen to transform these diaries into meetings. He asks other teenagers to become their voice. In front of the camera, they discover diaries for the first time. By mirror effect, the reader identifies with the story. Something happens, the expression and the voice become confused. Following the reading, the reader talks about the writing with the artist. He comments the writing with his own experiences.

The readings are recorded in a reading room designed by Pauline Laufmöller-Marlier. When the reading room is not occupied, it becomes a projection room, broadcasting the readings previously captured. Around the reading room, spectators stroll through a forest of writings.

A 192-page illustrated book, compiling the 300 most beautiful texts of the collection has just been published by Hoëbecke (Gallimard).
