As we move into the circle of light in front of the screen, we see our image appear, like in a mirror. Then, slowly, this reflection dissolves, fragmenting into tiny particles that scatter into the air without ever completely disappearing. The particles of all visitors coexist and intermingle infinitely. With the title Je(u), Jisoo Yoo questions the boundaries of the individual and their place in the universe, but she also invites us to enjoy this journey of reflection, to play with our identity.

The interactive installation Je(u), made possible by an elaborate mathematical implementation, transforms our perception of ‘self’ into a fleeting, inconstant, ephemeral figure. The complexity of the software used for the project is inversely proportional to the evanescence of what occurs as the viewer traverses the confined space of the installation. Indeed, upon approaching the installation, one discovers a projection on a screen of particles that seem to follow the movements of the air around our bodies. The image of the visitor, initially somewhat blurry, appears fleetingly on the screen before dissolving into a whirlwind of particles. In a perpetual motion of time and space, these particles gradually settle on the ground, joining those of previous visitors. Each visitor's data remains suspended in the virtual space, continuing to interact and forming an ever-changing landscape. In this installation that questions the boundaries of perception and the ‘self,’ everything seen is a mirage, an image, reflecting the brain's interpretation.
The movement of visitors generates a dance of particles in the virtual world. The traces of others communicate with the visitor and intermingle; each of us extends into the other, and each of them lives partially within the other. There is no clear boundary between you and me. “I” then becomes a “game.” The idea of self becomes an improvisation with things outside of us in a confined scene. This “game” of “I” is both our reality and an illusion. We are an illusory spectacle that evolves, disappears, and continuously recreates itself.
