bok o bok

Active since : 2015
Association

Bok o bok is interested in the sensitive relationship between dance and new technologies through dance creations, films, and performances. The creations of the company are presented among others at the Centre Pompidou, at the Biennale Experimenta (Hexagone Scène nationale Arts Sciences), at the French Institute of Côte d'Ivoire, or at the Château d'Azay-le-Rideau.

Bok o bok was founded in 2015 by Veronika Akopova (choreographer and dancer) and Florian Goralsky (director and developer), to develop projects exploring different artistic forms, with a focus on dance and digital arts.

Established in Lyon since 2019, the company is developing a trilogy project, exploring the phenomenon of the extinction of living species, by combining dance and new technologies. The first part, Flying bodies across the fields, which deals with the disappearance of bees and attempts to replace them with pollinating drones, is a 2020 winner of the Regional Fund for Emerging Talents (FoRTE Île-de-France), and is presented at the Centre Pompidou, as part of the Environment Forum on October 1, 2021.

The second part, Murmurations, a piece for five dancers and a flock of robotic birds, is part of the "New Worlds" program, a public commission issued by the Ministry of Culture, and will be presented at the Château d'Azay-le-Rideau in June 2023.
