The "Établissement de communication et de production audiovisuelle de la Défense (ECPAD)" is a center for audiovisual archives and production. As such, it holds exceptional audiovisual and photographic archives on all contemporary conflicts in which the French army has been involved since 1915, representing 15 million photos and 94,000 hours of film. These holdings are constantly enriched by the work of military reporters, contributions from defense organizations and private donations.
Based at the Fort d'Ivry-sur-Seine since 1948, ECPAD bears witness in real time to the engagement of French armed forces in all theaters of operation, with its reporting teams trained in operational filming conditions.
A true cultural player, ECPAD promotes its holdings through film co-production, book co-publishing, exhibitions and participation in festivals. ECPAD is also a key player in education and research for schoolchildren, students and teachers, and a training center thanks to its École des métiers de l'image (EMI).
