A person

Pierre Giner is an artist, curator and artistic director. A specialist in exhibitions and public spaces, he explores contemporary subjects and new technologies. His artistic practice is based on narrative and informative content, combining digital and interactivity, criticism and romance, linearity and discontinuity, taking into account spaces, uses and situations. His projects explore the theater of fiction and its sharing, to create places and works in which the spectator takes his or her place.

Long before cigarettes were banned, Pierre Giner designed Ça dure un peu, a digital cigarette that can be consumed with a click, a classic of the web and network art. For the contemporary art world, he then produced the video games Le bruit des avions, a singular flight simulator in perdition (2002), and Keep the distance (2002-2007), a car game haunted by the imminence of an accident; Elsewhere Japan, an urban drift in Japan, a visual and sound landscape captured through a cell phone (2003, Villa Kujoyama); Misc_spaces (2004), a virtual museum reinventing the contemporary art collection of FRAC Champagne Ardennes, Talksaver, a transcription of live speech into images for the Venice Biennale (2005), Misc_stories, a multimedia installation on the work of architect Patrick Bouchain for the French Pavilion at the Venice Biennale (2006) and I-Dance (2005-2021), a digital dance floor, a nomadic collaborative artistic laboratory where audiences, musicians, choreographers and fashion designers meet.

In 2010, he designed and staged the first exhibition on the history of video games, MuseoGames, at the Musée des arts et métiers in Paris. In 2011, he created Cnapn, an online collection generator, to present works from the Centre national des arts plastiques. In 2012, he designed and inaugurated the program for Imaginarium, a creative industries workshop in Tourcoing (France). He was one of the guest artists at the 9th Shanghai International Art Biennale, for which he created a traveling pavilion entitled "Imaginarium Mobile".

Around the subjects of photography, music, cinema, video games, architecture, science and design, he curated, directed and/or designed the exhibitions Des images comme des oiseaux at the Friche Belle de mai in Marseille (2013), Reveal at the Lafayette Anticipations foundation (2014), Ultima at Lieu Unique in Nantes (2015), Comédies Musicales at the Philarmonie de Paris (2018), Je veux savoir at the Quai des savoirs in Toulouse (2019), l'Orient Sonore at the Mucem in Marseille, Le Droit des objets à (se) disposer d'eux-mêmes at the Musée des Beaux Arts in Nancy and the Rencontres Fortuites season with the RMN (2020).
