The Malady of death
The shift from the field of live performance to that of virtual reality and immersive reading is fully and coherently in line with the identity of the Collectif Or Normes - based on the artistic, technological and scientific trio - with this will to offer the public a new approach and a new form of literature. Indeed, to the emotion specific to the content of the work are added the emotions and sensations specific to virtual reality, to the graphic and sound universe. In addition, the interaction of the actors with the pair, from the moment they are welcomed, helps to create a space where reality gradually fades into fiction.
The malady of death is the desperate quest of a man in search of the feeling of love that he hopes to find through a paid relationship. The story of a huis clos, in a room, between a man unable to love and a woman paid to submit to his will during several nights spent in a hotel.
Every night the same ceremony is held, the woman lies naked on the bed and falls asleep, at the same time offered and recluse in her sleep, docile and inaccessible in her silence... Holed up in the dark room, the man and the woman wait, in the improbability of a feeling that can only arise from chance, from an error, "Never from a will". Only the shadow of the sea breaks with the immobility that embraces them, this "black sea [that] moves in place of something else, of you and of this dark form in the bed".
From this artistic work done for this text, Collectif Or Normes is exploring the codes of digital editorialization specific to the technology and ergonomics of the "Virtual Reality Helmet" to stage the text La Maladie de la Mort by Marguerite Duras in L.I.L.I. format, an immersive reading installation.
