Born in 1986, Olivier Jonvaux is a graduate of the ENSBA - National School of Fine Arts in Lyon and Le Fresnoy - National Studio of Contemporary Arts. He has been invited to various artistic residencies and institutions in France and abroad.

His work explores the life of objects, from their creation to their destruction, using a variety of mediums: the use of clay, cement, or modeling clay is complemented by an immaterial dimension through the use of 3D modeling. In his installations, sculptures, and videos, the reiteration of forms taken from everyday life escapes their origin and attribution, playing with the status of the work through a sought-after poetic determination.

The heritage of art history, science, or literature serves as sources of inspiration, bringing out the metaphorical potential of these seemingly ordinary forms through analogy or hybridization. Through his works, whether real or virtual, the artist disrupts our relationship with the world through a resolutely laconic reflection on its fetishization, presumed stability, and modes of circulation.

His work has been exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo, LAM - Villeneuve-d’Ascq, the Museum of Modern Art in Saint-Étienne, Basis Frankfurt, CEAAC Strasbourg, and the Bazaar Compatible Program in Shanghai. His films have been presented at SESIFF in Seoul, ISFF in Clermont-Ferrand, Instants Vidéos in Marseille, and the Pavillon Sicli in Geneva. Jonvaux’s work has been rewarded with various prizes, including those from the Ateliers d’art de la Réunion des musées nationaux, AIA and AIC from DRAC Île-de-France, and Les Chantiers de la création at Mains d’Œuvres.
