In an era marked by social, economic and environmental crises, the artists in this selection depict and propose other ways of existing in the world. Each category is entitled by an injunction ("Imitate", "Hybridise", "Exist", "Act"), reminding us of the existence of a living being, plural, vast and often breathless, that art transcribes and sometimes transcends.

Imitate

The imitation of the living is one of the major characteristics of art history. In our era, certain artists are seizing on technologies in an approach close to biomimetics.

Félicienne d'Estienne d'Orves' Éclipse, from the Cosmos series, is inspired by astrophysical phenomena to recreate this natural phenomenon.
Rituals by the composer and DJ Flore, with Yannick Moreteau from the WSK collective, is an immersive performance that imitates and gives materiality to sound and waves.
In the interactive installation MotherTree, Selma Bourdon and Julie Machin imitate the lichen of trees, which changes during the day, in a perfect fusion between nature and technology.
With Les hublots suspendus, Alexia DeFluff uses the sun to reproduce and tell the story of life around us...

Hybridise

What if the living beings of tomorrow were hybrid, if they communicated with the non-living to allow new forms and possibilities to appear?

With her Bestioles Électroniques, Marylou artificially reconstructs fragile insects, which together form a hybrid orchestra.
Sabrina Ratté, in her work Floralia, imagines an ecosystem born of the fusion between technology and plant species.
These organic motifs are also found in Tryphème & Ulysse Lefort's performance, which mixes art history and technology through an artificial intelligence device.
Salomé Chatriot tries to re-establish the harmony between man and machine in her series Breathing Patterns by generating new forms.
In Hybr-iD, the artist Inès Alpha pushes the limits of portraiture and filters on networks thanks to augmented reality.

Exist

Living beings are part of a symbiotic ecosystem in which the human being occupies a central place, although they must be capable of "Existing in the world"...

In I will sleep when I'm dead, Jeanne Susplugas takes us on a journey into the human brain.
With Visual Contagions, Mélanie Courtinat questions the multiplication of the number of images in circulation.
In The rain, Heewon Lee evokes the comfort women during war through memories, an intimate testimony of human pain...
The Iakeri collective offers a space for the perception of inequalities between women and men in Murs invisibles.
With Ergonomics, Rocio Berenguer hijacks new marketing strategies.
Cindy Coutant, like the snails in Télédésir, imagines another time and another rhythm...

Act

Some artists highlight the current state of the living world and call for action.

In TROPICS, Mathilde Lavenne uses digital data to reproduce the landscape of a farm, synonymous with a lost paradise.
Using drawing and digital technology, Claire Malrieux transcribes the history of climate in the Anthropocene in Climat General.
The projections of nocturnal landscapes in Dys Focus, by the artist Silvi Simon, remind us of the existence of a living being to be safeguarded.
Marie Julie Bourgeois makes the consequences of human activities visible with her artificial clouds in Homogenitus.
With La grande histoire du dessin, a huge fresco with an augmented reality device, Elly Oldman offers a reflection of the present world while raising awareness of ecological disasters.
