From June 12 to 14, 2024, the City of Enghien-les-Bains and its arts center are organizing the 11th edition of Bains numériques, an international biennial of digital arts.

Enghien-les-Bains arts center
As a center for artistic creation, distribution and residencies, the Arts center is recognized as a National interest stage “Art et création” by the French Ministry of Culture. The CDA offers a varied transdisciplinary artistic program (visual arts exhibitions, dance, theater, music, cinema, etc.), combined with artistic workshops for young audiences and guided tours. Various festivals also punctuate the cultural seasons, such as Bains numériques (International Digital Arts Biennial) and PIDS (Paris Images Digital Summit), dedicated to digital creation and visual effects.
An international symposium
Art, science and technology
As part of Bains numériques and UNESCO's Creative Cities Network, the City of Enghien-les-Bains and its arts center are organizing, in partnership with the National Research Agency, a symposium bringing together French and international experts on two themes:
- Digital creativity at the heart of sustainable urban development: representatives from leading cities and cultural institutions in Europe, Asia and North America present the role of creativity as a lever for sustainable urban development;
- Uses and frameworks for the use of generative Artificial Intelligence in artistic creation: researchers and digital artists share their relationship to the use of AI in creation, as well as the new challenges and opportunities generated by these developments.
Among the invited French experts:
Artificial Intelligence
As the source of a new form of magic
Artists have always drawn on technological advances to explore new creative horizons.
The exhibition Mirabil-IA, how AI transforms creation (curators: Ada Ackerman, Alexandre Gefen & Dominique Roland) presented during the Bains Numériques, reflects this profound upheaval in plastic creation. It offers a look at how the integration of AI is transforming artistic practices, far from the common fears about a decline in creativity.
Performing arts stage
Dedicated to contemporary issues in the digital age
During Bains numériques, dancers question the notion of performance. The shows BreakDO and 1 mètre par seconde explore the relationship between artistic and sporting prowess, a current issue echoing the context of the Cultural Olympiad. Seconde Nature and Oiseleuse demonstrate the role of digital technologies in transforming the artistic creation process. On the music scene, the spotlight will be on electronic music with Skygge, Jocelyn Mienniel, Elkka and CHLOE.
Immersive installations and imaginary journeys
The biennial will also feature immersive experiences:
Jérôme Duval's Dreamcities takes you through the streets of Shanghai: a cultural and emotional experience, where your whole being is invited to exercise its senses!
INSIDER / OUTSIDER, combining music, visual arts and virtual reality, offers a sensory, musical and interactive journey by Philippe Cohen Solal, one of the founders of the Gotan Project trio, paying tribute to the American painter Henry Darger.
Finally, collaborative digital arts projects between UNESCO Creative Cities, such as Cyborg Rituals by French artist Lola Rossi and Norwegian artist Kris Hastings, explore the theme of Augmented Humanity and its challenges.
Bains Numériques
Bains numériques, international biennial of digital arts is a one-of-a-kind event designed to offer visitors a unique experience where different imaginary worlds collide. For a whole week, the town of Enghien-les-Bains becomes an open-air theater, with streets, squares, parks and, of course, the lake, all given over to artistic proposals.
